FINAL DESIGN
INSPIRATION IMAGES
When the final concept was finally developed by my group and I, the way I wanted the social media posts to look like the 80s came back to life. The patterns that come from that decade are very recognizable and can leave a strong impact if used and executed well. I wanted the social media posts to be able to have that same impact and be memorable for the people that would see them on their feeds.
LOGO ROUGHS
When trying to develop the logo, there was a lot of trial and error involved. I was not fully clear about what I wanted it to be but I knew that I wanted it to be a retro look that listeners could resonate with. The first main idea I thought of having was the symbol of a rewind button that would be found on cassette players or CD players.
After having the idea of the rewind button the biggest challenge was trying to find the perfect typeface. I went through many different fonts to see what one fit my vision the most. Another challenge I had was deciding the colour the rewind button itself.
TYPOGRAPHY

Chicle Regular

Open Sans Semibold

Open Sans Regular

When choosing fonts to use, I was inspired by the bubbly style of typefaces used in the 1960's and beyond. I felt that it would help with portraying the look and theme of the show the best.
Chicle Regular was the font used in the logo and Open Sans Semibold and Regular was used in the body text on each social media post created.
COLOUR PALETTE
For the colour palette I wanted it to be as colourful and vibrant as possible. If I wanted that '80s look, then lots of colour was very important to have. The colours used in the final design were taken from the image asset I used to create the patterns.
Bright colours were also important to use because they can help grab people's attention. Colour is one of the main aspects of a design that may be noticed so if I wanted people to watch the show or be aware of it, then using bright colours was important.
ASSETS USED
When creating the final design, the first image was used to help create the colour palette as well as the patterns used. The second image is the Radio Humber logo that was used throughout all social media posts.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
For my internship in the Graphic Design program at Humber College, I was given the opportunity to work with 96.9 Radio Humber on a group project with other students. For this project, we were given the task of developing a four-episode show from scratch with elements besides the actual show itself creating other assets such as social media. During the process, we were also the opportunity to work with a mentor to help guide us through the whole process.
The students working on this came from many different programs in the Faculty of Media and Creative Arts at Humber College. Some of the programs included: Film and Television Production, Media Communications, and Radio Broadcasting.
This project was completed in collaboration with Damien Allison, Molly Chaffee, and Mallory Pogue. The mentor I collaborated with was Shem Parkinson who is a producer for the Roz & Mocha Show on KISS 92.5 and also works for Breakfast Television on CityTV.
